The Council has been designated as Secretariat for award of extra-mural research projects in Unani Medicine by the Department of AYUSH in the year 2006. So far 35 Extra-mural Research Projects (EMR) have been awarded in different disciplines including reverse pharmacological studies, safety and clinical evaluation, quality control of drugs etc. to different universities/ medical colleges of repute. The Council also provides financial assistance for short-term research projects from the Council’s grants to undertake clinical, clinico-pharmacological, toxicological, phytochemical research studies and modification in forms of Unani drugs etc.. Such assistance is limited to award of fellowship and contingency amount by the Council.
